Prince of Persia Xbox360 Review

April 14, 2009

x360-pop-01
I’ve been playing Prince of Persia since it was released on the PC since 1989. I loved the game, loved the realistic movement ever to be seen on a computer screen at the time. I even enjoyed the sequel too, “Shadows of the Flame” even though the movement was not as smooth as the first game, but the visuals was amazing. Recently, the “Sands of Time” trilogy gave the series a good boost and much popularity that it makes you wonder why does it need a restart? Yes, the new Prince of Persia is very new, its not even related to any previous game.

Gears of War 2 Xbox360 Review

December 13, 2008

x360-gow2-01

I’ve had my experience in Gears of War when I was borrowing an Xbox360. And what can I tell you about it? It’s a much more satisfying experience than playing Unreal Tournament 3. Maybe because I’m just more of a single player cooperative with a story type of a person, but that’s my point of view. With the new one, what can I expect? Will Epic make a good game much better? Lets see. Read the rest of this entry ?

Marketplace is offline and content region lock [UPDATED]

November 27, 2008

x360-marketplace

I’ve been using Xbox360 a lot, especially the demos and the videos. I enjoy the moments that I can view trailers and try out so many games.

Recently XboxLive offered a web based Marketplace. You don’t have to turn on your Xbox to purchase or download your 360 content, now you can queue them from your favorite browser. I like the idea, I enjoyed the idea so much that I immediately logged on to the store to try it out. As soon as I try it, I was surprised to see that there was so much content. More than what I usually see when I use my 360. I try to download a free video called “The Guild”, suddenly, I was greeted with this message “This offer is not valid in your region”. I presumed as much, but it feels like it’s not fair to show these items to me and not let me get it. What’s this supposed to mean? Like Live teasing me? Telling me that living in the Philippines is not worthy to see free video? I mean, if the marketplace don’t intend to give it to me, then don’t let me see it anymore. I understand region locks, they are there for a reason, but don’t tease me. It’s irritating once you feel like you can get it, then you suddenly notice that you can’t. The Xbox Live Marketplace needs a lot of work, other than the region lock, they should really do previews of the Premium themes. I just hope Microsoft improves their service.

About the Marketplace again… for some reason, I can’t get in. What’s irritating is that once it has this problem, logging in your profile takes very long, to the point I thought my Xbox hangged up. I actually had no problems that Microsoft is working on it, but if you are online it’s a requirement to log into Live, and with the Marketplace down it takes like less than a minute for it to respond. Even when I’m already logged in, there are times that the NXE takes a little longer to load properly. I haven’t tried logging in today, but yesterday was a pain. It’s not an intense pain since I was still able to talk to my XboxLive friends through it’s chat system without a problem. Again, I just hope that Microsoft improves their service.

UPDATE: Looks like the problem with my connection is related to my internet connection. I had to change my DNS and suddenly, everything worked fine again.

Fable 2 Xbox360 Review

November 23, 2008

x360-fable2-01

For the first time, I already have my own Xbox360, after 3 years of it’s release, and yes it is a Falcon. The first game I got to play out on my first 360? Fable 2. After playing Megaman 9 and for some reason, I can’t get myself to play Okami, I really missed playing some real hardcore games. Ah, now, I’m done with my rambling. Is Fable 2 really a better RPG than most? The original game was already aspiring to be more than any RPG has ever achieved, how will the new one fare up? They promised us that we can buy shops, a nice sweet dog, a great quest and much better gameplay. Does it live up to its name? Read the rest of this entry ?

I Officially Have an Xbox! plus installed NXE too. Oh what fun.

x360-arcade

After borrowing 360’s and trying to save up for a good future, I finally got my own Xbox, after 3 years after it’s initial launch. I got it about 3 weeks ago, but I was so busy at work that I couldn’t post as much as I wanted. I got the arcade version which is essentially the just the Xbox without the hard drive. What’s the difference? The package is not totally different from any version except that it doesn’t have a hard drive, but it does include a memory card, but no headset. Console Wars 2007

January 12, 2008

So 2007 has been interesting. So many things has happened, and it’s been a roller coaster ride. Let’s start of with the hand held consoles. The DS has been very stable, nothing new to say but there are tons and tons of games coming out and there is no stopping it. Is it beating out the PSP? Not really, for the past few months before the end of 2007, the PSP has been selling like crazy. From what I hear other countries are also having good sales with the PSP, but it seems like the games are not selling as much. So what’s with the PSP? It’s a multimedia power house. More adults will be more attracted with the movie features and MP3 capability, and now it even has Skype (Internet phone) to back it up. The PSP is selling because of it’s other features, it seems like gaming is just a bonus.
